Another Vehicle Vandalized on Morello Ave near Kiki Dr.

Sorry, we should have told you about 3 months ago, our truck was parked on Kiki and someone removed the catalytic converter from under the truck using a pipe cutter. They sell the catalytic converters for the platinum in them.

After paying hundreds of dollars to get it replaced, we now park the truck in the driveway.

K and P

I read about the catalytic converters thefts but generally these are Toyota vehicles. I guess Toyotas have more Platinum in them than others, thats from my experience.

I like the site, hopefully people check it routinely. Another site is Claycord.com which I usually view. Its hard to keep up the vigilance with all the daily distractions, but with people like you who put the information out there it is NOT impossible.

On another note, the city of Pleasant Hill is having a Sept 11th event and I'll be doing a K9 demonstration. I will try to get more info and forward it or check out the city's website.

Take care,
James

August 1st-2nd Car Parts taken on Freya Way...HIGH off ground vehicles are targeted.

Nicole, a neighbor just sent me this report and I am passing it along to you.

Last Friday night or early Saturday morning my mother’s car (Toyota 4runner) was vandalized. They went under the vehicle and took engine parts (anything they could unscrew or cut out).

The police officer who took the report told her that this is a very common occurrence – especially with vehicles that are higher off the ground.

The parts are either sold or melted down for the precious metals (apparently there are trace amounts of gold & platinum in certain car parts).

She lives on Freya Way on a very well lit part of the street.

Smash and Grab on Kiki Drive 2nd week of June

During that last week of school, a woman "learned the hard way" not to leave her bag on the seat of her locked car. These "smash and grabs" occur in the blink of an eye. Never leave anything in plain site of your locked car whether it is in your driveway or in a public place. Locked cars are no deterrent for an opportunistic criminal.

Their favorite things to "smash and grab" are: MP3's, GPS's, purses or bags of any sort, backpacks, briefcases, checkbooks, laptops, cell phones, electronics of any sort, and even spare change.

Imagine if they smash and grab your garage door opener and also have access to your registration with your address. Oh what fun they could have opening your garage, driving into your garage and closing the door behind them, loading up their own cars, and then driving away.
